Student Teaching Placement

During student teaching, I have completed both placements teaching 7th grade homeroom and two sections of 7th grade math at St. Marcus Lutheran School in Milwaukee, WI. Working at St. Marcus has been an amazing and inspiring journey that has shaped me as an educator. I feel confident in the fact that I am positively impacting and effectively educating inner city students of Milwaukee. Throughout teaching at St. Marcus, I have implemented technology regularly. I use a PowerPoint projected on a Smart Board daily to facilitate and inspire student learning and math comprehension. As a student teacher I have also challenged my students to implement technology during the school day. Celebrating Black History Month is a very important part of St. Marcus' tradition. My 7th grade students were taught to do research using the Internet and reliable computer databases to safely and effectively get information for their individual "Historical Black Figures" projects. My students loved the integration of QR Codes in the classroom and were amazed at how easy they are to create and use. Lastly, while teaching, my class and I documented various video clips and used technology to display the videos on the Internet and social networking websites.

The effective use of technology in school's today is extremely vital to each student becoming a 21st century learner. My students have grown tremendously throughout my placement related to their ability and comfort level of implementing technology within a classroom setting.
